On December 26, 2023 The US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) published proposed regulations relating to the credit for production of clean hydrogen (clean hydrogen production credit) and the energy credit, as established and amended by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, These proposed regulations were open for public comment through February 26, 2024. The January 3rd, 2025 action by the federal administration delivered the needed clarity to accelerate clean energy innovation, particularly in the growing hydrogen sector. The 45V tax credit will provide important incentives to scale up hydrogen technologies, create jobs, boost local economies, improve air quality, and further solidify California’s role as a global leader in clean energy and emissions reductions.
