In March, ARCHES hosted a day of collaboration and strategy-sharing with other H2Hubs. The cross-hub leaders, including PNWH2 and HyVelocity Hub, engaged actively in peer-to-peer dialogue to share lessons learned and identified paths forward for Phase 2 readiness coordination opportunities such as market development, workforce strategies, and technology codes and standards.
The team also held its first Annual Symposium in Irvine with the hub’s ecosystem partners, convening over 140 executives and leaders from across California’s hydrogen industry, including more than 100 ARCHES partner organizations representing private companies, government, labor, and utilities. This full day symposium featured keynotes from California state leaders, deep dives into ARCHES’ growing ecosystem of 130+ subprojects, insights from cutting-edge systems modeling, and panel discussions on hydrogen infrastructure, local partnerships, and risk and resiliency strategies.
As we continue driving the hydrogen market forward, ARCHES is excited to share the Key Takeaways Summary from our RFI on heavy-duty fuel cell electric vehicles is out now.
In partnership,
The ARCHES Team

ARCHES Hosts Annual Symposium

On March 19, ARCHES hosted its 2025 Annual Symposium. The event brought together over 140 executives from across California’s hydrogen industry, including leaders from over 100 partner organizations including private companies, government, labor, and utilities, who are driving the development of sustainable energy solutions. Hydrogen leaders gathered in Irvine for a day of dialogue and visioning. The event highlights the progress and strategic direction of California’s hydrogen hub and reinforced ARCHES’ mission to create a scalable, resilient, and inclusive hydrogen ecosystem.
ARCHES Symposium Highlights:
Keynotes from State Leaders: California State leaders including Senator Bob Archuleta, Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris, Senior Advisor to the Governor and Director of GO-Biz Dee Dee Myers, and CPUC Commissioner Darcie Houck joined Chris Hannan of the State Building and Construction Trades Council and ARCHES CEO Angelina Galiteva to emphasize the importance of clean hydrogen for America’s and California’s energy future and workforce development.
ARCHES Ecosystem Deep Dive: The ARCHES team shared updates on its growing ecosystem of 130+ subprojects, covering permitting, compliance, partner onboarding, and its ARCHES Marketplace plans which is designed to increase connectivity, price certainty, and project viability for producers and offtakers.
Systems Analysis and Modeling: Attendees got a glimpse into ARCHES’ robust modeling work with national lab partners and universities to evaluate lifecycle impacts, emissions reductions, and hydrogen flow from 2025 through 2031. This analysis will be critical to tracking progress and shaping policy.
Hydrogen Infrastructure + Cities in Focus: These panels highlighted the role of ARCHES in bringing together organizations with a breadth and depth of real-world experience deploying hydrogen, and also in ensuring city leadership is aligned with ARCHES to generate maximum impact for communities.
Breakout Sessions: Risk + Resiliency: Participants split into upstream and downstream workgroups to identify key risks, propose mitigation strategies, and align on shared priorities from workforce development and infrastructure timelines to policy advocacy and cost-share concerns.
Hydrogen Test Drives + Networking: Demos of fuel cell vehicles and a reception closed out the day and showcasing hydrogen technologies in action.
ARCHES continues to lead California’s push toward a thriving, clean hydrogen economy. The March 19 event marked a key milestone in advancing the collaborative spirit and practical solutions needed to power the energy transition.

RFI Key Takeaways Out Now
Key Takeaways: ARCHES Heavy-Duty Vehicle Development Strategy FCEV RFI
The key takeaways from the 50 responses to ARCHES’ RFI on Heavy-Duty Fuel Cell Vehicle Market Development Strategy is now available. Stakeholder feedback from across the value chain, encompassing truck and bus OEMs, fleet operators, transit agencies, and hydrogen station developers, demonstrated support for the proposed strategic frameworks to scale 5,000 fuel cell electric trucks and 1,000 fuel cell electric buses in California.
- Stakeholders broadly agree that market certainty, standardized technology, funding incentives, competition, and coordinated infrastructure development are essential to achieving cost parity and accelerating adoption. Several key priorities respondents mentioned include:
- Flexible vehicle incentive partnerships
- Technology standardization, convergence, and compatibility
- Price transparency
- Refueling infrastructure coordination
- Alignment of funding mechanisms with production and fleet deployment goals
