CALIFORNIA, October 8, 2025 – In celebration of National Hydrogen Day (10.08), ARCHES launched an interactive map showcasing active and committed ARCHES partners and its first annual report documenting progress in creating California’s sustainable hydrogen economy.
ARCHES is accelerating its transition to an Ecosystem and Marketplace model following federal program changes; strengthening our ability to enable partner projects to successfully reach financing, scale, and long-term commercial success.
“California has long led the nation in clean energy innovation—from solar power to electric vehicles—and hydrogen will be no exception. Despite the loss of federal funding, we will press forward with our state, private, and international partners to build the infrastructure, train the workforce, and establish the supply chains that will power a modern, resilient energy economy. Together, we will position California and our allies at the forefront of the global hydrogen transformation.” said Theresa Maldonado, Board Chair of ARCHES and VP of Research and Innovation for the University of California.
“California continues to lead the nation in clean energy innovation, and ARCHES exemplifies how public-private partnerships can accelerate our climate goals while creating good jobs,” said Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-73). “This ecosystem approach proves that smart coordination and commercial focus can deliver both environmental and economic benefits for all Californians.”
“National Hydrogen Day marks hydrogen’s atomic weight (1.008) and today we’re demonstrating real progress,” said Angelina Galiteva, CEO of ARCHES. “While the federal landscape shifted, our ecosystem momentum has not. We’re now positioned to move faster on building out a reliable, resilient, integrated hydrogen ecosystem and marketplace.”
Annual Report Highlights
The inaugural report documents the August 2024 Oakland launch with Governor Newsom; Platts Global Energy Awards finalist recognition; white papers developed with 400+ partners; 150 infrastructure projects in planning and development; and pathways to thousands of jobs and cleaner air delivering $3 billion in annual health cost savings.

Interactive Map Reveals Coordinated Infrastructure
The map showcases signed partners building California’s hydrogen infrastructure. Additional partners and projects will be added to the map as our Ecosystem evolves with increased market-speed flexibility. ARCHES remains focused on getting these projects and more through the Final Investment Decision phase, putting people to work delivering multiple benefits to California.

A Growing Ecosystem
ARCHES is actively expanding through its Rolling RFI/RFP process, focused on hydrogen producers, distributors, and offtakers. Strategic opportunities this past year included Pipeline Infrastructure RFI and Heavy-Duty FCET RFQ, with additional RFI/RFP opportunities for infrastructure scheduled to launch in 2025 and 2026.
