Request for Information: Heavy-Duty Fuel Cell Vehicle Market Development Strategy
The Request for Information (RFI) for the ARCHES Heavy-Duty Fuel Cell Vehicle Market Development Strategy is open and accepting responses until November 27, 2024 at 5:00 pm PST.
This is a unique opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed frameworks for supporting fuel cell truck and bus market development in California. ARCHES plans to supply over 250 tons per day of renewable, clean hydrogen to trucks and buses by the end of 2030, helping fleets reach a total cost of ownership that is competitive with legacy combustion technologies while advancing toward California’s climate and clean air goals.
Who Should Participate
- Fuel cell electric truck and bus manufacturers
- Truck fleet operators
- Transit agencies
- Hydrogen station developers
- Individuals and organizations familiar with these businesses or with technology transition strategies in general
How to Participate
Read the full RFI: Heavy-Duty Fuel Cell Vehicle Development Strategy here
We held a virtual information session for the RFI on Friday, November 8, you can view the slides here.
Write a response, following all of the guidelines in the RFI, and submit your response to Box by November 27 at 5:00 pm PST.
Rolling Hydrogen Projects RFP/RFI
ARCHES is working to establish California’s renewable clean hydrogen energy system. To build this Alliance our goal is to bring together an ecosystem of many partners, not limiting ourselves to those included in the DOE H2Hub. Projects in the DOE H2Hub were selected via an open RFP/RFI that was conducted by ARCHES in Q4 2022. Now, we are happy to re-open a rolling RFP/RFI process for projects to become part of the larger hydrogen ecosystem and this exciting journey for hydrogen market liftoff in California.
While there is no funding attached to this RFP/RFI process, ARCHES will use this information to help build the California hydrogen ecosystem and marketplace. If additional funding is identified, ARCHES ecosystem members will be notified.
3 ways to participate:
Preliminary Proposal | Updated Proposal | Full New Proposal | |
---|---|---|---|
Summary | This is a great way to keep ARCHES informed about your ongoing project work, but without the effort to fill out a full RFP/RFI response at this time. You can convert it to a full proposal later by submitting the remaining materials. | Did you participate in the Q4 2022 RFP/RFI for the ARCHES DOE H2Hub? We’d love to hear about your progress since then | ARCHES is very excited to be able to accept new partners into the ARCHES ecosystem. Becoming part of this ecosystem will allow you to join internal conversations and participate from the ground level as California works together to build a hydrogen ecosystem. |

Next steps | ARCHES will review your preliminary proposal and keep you in mind for any future opportunities. If you wish to turn your preliminary proposal into a full proposal at a later date you can do so by submitting the metrics form and full narrative, and alerting us that you have done so. | ARCHES will review your updated proposal and reach out if we have any questions. Your updated project will be considered for inclusion in the ARCHES ecosystem and we will notify you of the outcome. | ARCHES will review your updated proposal and reach out if we have any questions.
